CLINIC OPERATIONS

Clinic Operations follow these principles: 1. All patient treatment plans and irreversible treatment decisions are jointly reviewed and approved by the co-directors of the clinic, Dr. Mark Hans and Dr. Fang Bing. a. Dr. Fang is a Professor and Director of the Joint Orthodontic/Orthognathic Surgery Clinic at Ninth Peoples Hospital in Shanghai. She received her Doctoral degree in the Science in Dentistry from West China University of Medical Sciences and completed her specialty training in Orthodontics at Kunming Medical University. In addition to her training in China she also was educated at the University of Illinois and is an Adjunct Professor at Case Western Reserve University Department of Orthodontics in Cleveland Ohio. Dr. Fang lives in Shanghai with her husband and son. She sees patients in the AmeriChin Clinic every Wednesday and is available for consultation with patients and parents daily. b. Dr. Hans is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthodontics and Associate Dean of the School of Dental Medicine at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Yale University in 1975 and went on to study dentistry and orthodontics at CWRU, receiving his D.D.S. degree in 1979 and his M.S.D. in 1981. Dr. Hans received the Harry Sicher Award from the American Association of Orthodontists for his Master's Thesis. Since 1981 Dr. Hans has maintained an active orthodontic practice in Berea, Ohio, where he lives with his wife Susan and three children, Sarah, Jack and Thomas. Dr. Hans is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is co-author with Dr. Donald Enlow of the leading textbook on facial growth, Essentials of Facial Growth. Dr. Hans is at the Clinic in March and November every year and conducts a weekly videoconference to answer questions and communicate with patients and parents in Shanghai. 2. A different faculty member from the Ninth Peoples Hospital is assigned to see patients at AmeriChin each day of the week. All patients are jointly assigned to a doctor from Ninth Peoples Hospital and a doctor from CWRU. All clinical procedures are performed by the doctor from Ninth Peoples Hospital with indirect supervision by Dr. Hans and Dr. Fang. 3. Dr. Richard Griffith from CWRU is Co-Director of Patient Care with Dr. Wu Yong from STJO. He sees patients at the AmeriChin Clinic in May, September and January of each year. Dr. Griffith also conducts weekly videoconferences to communicate with patients and parents. 4. Dr. Wu Yong from STJO is Co-Director of Patient Care with Dr. Richard Griffith from CWRU. He sees patients at the AmeriChin Clinic every week on Sundays and is available for consultation with patients and parents daily.
